Hi! I'm Yuko Miki.
I'm the artist/owner of my small stationery business, Honeyberry Studios, in Seattle, Washington.
I love creating simple and joyful art to make your day a little happier.
I grew up in a small town of Himeji, Japan, surrounded by rice fields and mountains. I visited the beautiful Vashon Island while I was in high school and immediately fell in love with the nature and people of the Pacific Northwest. I moved to Seattle in 1996 as an international student, and one thing led to another - I'm still here and loving it <3
I'm inspired by nature, animals, and simple joys of everyday life (= food, mostly).
I started pursuing my creative passion in my early 30s, first as a hobby, and then more seriously in 2013. I'd worked for a non-profit organization providing services to people impacted by domestic violence for 14+ years, and it was very rewarding! But, I was aching to do something more creative with my life.
After much planning and number crunching, I quit my job on July 31st, 2015 to grow Honeyberry Studios full-time.
It was a VERY scary decision (I mean, how do we survive without those steady paychecks and benefits??)
I still have my insecurity and self-doubt but haven't regretted the decision to quit once.
